Serenade to a City

This shot is the culmination of that night of photography from which the last few photos I'm submitted have come.
I saw the shot long before it came to be, found just the right position, and waited there for 4 hours until the full moon was setting behind downtown Portland. As it went down, the sun was beginning to rise behind me, lighting up the sky ever-so-slightly to a rich shade of blue. There were too many moments where a perfect picture might come, and so many variables such as the state of the water and how it affected the reflections...
I'd originally intended to go for a standard landscape-format shot, but this one just seemed to turn out the best. The whole scene was just magnificent... I had only stopped by my home the night before to pick up my camera and tripod and didn't return until 8am that morning and this just goes to show that it was so well worth it.
I've since moved away from Portland and much of my heart is still there; this image reminds me of that and what I loved about living there.
